Craig:
The word, “THANKS,” may be such a simple word; however, its meaning penetrates deep into our hearts! Jim and I can’t even begin to tell you how much we appreciate all of your precious time and the incredible expertise that you provided us the past several months, in addition to delivering our case as “pro-bono” – which was an astronomical gift to us at this time!
In the midst of our everyday trials with Jim’s health, you always provided us with the “peace” and assurance of knowing that “Cigna was wrong” and that our case could potentially change legislation/the lives of others. Tuesday’s hearing give me a deeper insight and appreciation for you attorneys (including what my husband used to do) go through on a daily basis. It was unbelievable how “hours upon hours” of investigating every detail were compacted into 20 minutes! Those 20 minutes were presented with such a calm demeanor and to the point! You have no doubt been blessed with the ability to make a difference in people’s lives. And when all is said and done in this life, you will leave behind a legacy where the master says, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.” (Matthew 25:23)

You buy insurance to gain the peace of mind that help will be there if you are in an auto accident, become ill or disabled, or suffer a property loss. As a business owner, you rely on insurance as a safety net against the unexpected. Insurance companies have an obligation to cover claims and afford protection that was promised in their policy. Unfortunately, many big corporations deny claims as a means of ensuring their own profitability. Your may find yourself embroiled in coverage disputes and the good faith understanding you had at the time of acquiring an insurance policy may not be honored.
Ewing & Ewing, P.C. represents clients in the following insurance matters:
- Coverage Issues, Health, Accident and Disability
- Bad Faith
- ERISA Benefit Disputes
Coverage Issues
Our firm represents clients in disputes with insurance carriers over coverage issues. We take a creative approach to negotiating settlements that assist businesses as well as individual policy holders. We represent several local hospitals in disputes regarding insurance coverage and contract issues.
Bad Faith
When an insurance company fails to pay claims promptly or wrongfully denies a claim, the carrier is acting in bad faith. Individual policy holders as well as companies rely on insurance carriers through medical, liability, life, homeowners, disability and many other types of insurance coverage.
ERISA Benefit Disputes
ERISA stands for the Employee Retirement Income Security Act which was enacted in 1974. It is also called the Pension Reform Act and regulates most pension and employee benefit plans in the U.S., such as group health plans that private sector employees and unions offer to workers and their families.
Examples of types of ERISA benefit disputes include:
- Short and Long Term Disability;
- Health Benefits
- COBRA
